AHAM HONORS TOP HOME APPLIANCE INDUSTRY LEADERS
WASHINGTON, DC (April 25, 2016) — The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) honored several industry leaders for their contributions to the home appliance industry and to the Association during AHAM’s annual member meeting, Digital Destinations, held April 22-23, in Naples, Fla.
The Home Appliance Industry Leadership (HAIL) Award was presented to Randy Cooper, Director, Global Design for Safety and Regulatory, Whirlpool Corporation.
Cooper has been a mainstay in AHAM activities for nearly 20 years for several major and portable appliance categories. He has been a thought leader in AHAM’s strategic safety initiative. His leadership has been a driving force behind many of AHAM’s safety, performance and energy efficiency standards activities.
AHAM also presented the 2016 Gordon Stauffer Liston Durden Distinguished Service Award, which was renamed by the AHAM Board of Directors in honor of two of the home appliance industry’s most important leaders, Gordon Stauffer (1938-2013) of AGA Marvel and Liston Durden (1946-2011) of Viking Range Corporation, both of whom chaired the AHAM Board of Directors. This special award recognizes significant contributions by virtue of longevity and quality of service to the Association and the home appliance industry. The 2016 award was presented to Kyran Hoff, Technology Manager, Dishwashers, GE Appliances; Nathan Mouw, Director, North American Regulatory Affairs, Whirlpool Corporation; and Scott Mohler, Compliance Manager, Lasko Products, Inc.
Hoff has been involved in many AHAM efforts on dishwashers for the last 15 years, and has been an active member of AHAM’s DW-1 Dishwasher Performance Test Method Standard Task Force, including recently serving as chair.
Mouw is an important contributor to the Major Appliance Division Government Relations Council. He has been an asset to AHAM and its members in understanding and communicating the impact of regulatory proposals on product performance and integrity.
Mohler has been a leader within the Portable Appliance Engineering Council, serving as chair from 2012-2014. He was instrumental in the development of AHAM’s Portable and Floor Care Sustainability Standards and has been a steadfast advocate for enhancing product safety for portable appliances.
The AHAM Emerging Leader Award is presented to members who, have made important contributions to the industry through volunteer service. The 2016 AHAM Emerging Leader Award was presented to Dan Felton, Philips Electronics North America; John Todd, GE Appliances; and Paul Newsom, GE Appliances.
AHAM awarded the Chairman’s Partnership Award to Everett Shorey, President, Shorey Consulting. Established in 1995, the award recognizes significant contributions to the Association by non-member organizations, companies and individuals.
AHAM congratulates all award recipients. The 2017 AHAM annual member meeting will take place at the Washington Marriott at Metro Center in Washington, DC, April 30-May 1.
