STATEMENT OF SUPPORT FOR THE UNITED STATES-MEXICO-CANADA AGREEMENT (USMCA)

WASHINGTON, DC (January 31, 2019) —
AHAM president and CEO, Joseph M. McGuire has issued the following statement of support for the U.S.- Canada -Mexico Agreement (USMCA):

“After lengthy negotiations, U.S. President Donald Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and now former Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto signed the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) on November 30. This agreement provides a modernization to NAFTA and will continue the strong partnership that has long existed between North American countries. AHAM supports the USMCA. A North American trade agreement is key in maintaining economic growth in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. AHAM looks forward to working with the administration and others to secure ratification of the USMCA in Congress and in Canada. We support quick approval and hope to avoid termination of NAFTA, which would cause uncertainty and instability for manufacturers.”
